Confronting A Manipulator

Confronting a manipulator about their wrongdoings can often feel like stepping into a psychological minefield. When you bring up their behavior, you might expect an acknowledgment or an apology, but instead, they may deftly turn the conversation around to focus on you. This tactic, known as gaslighting, is designed to make you question your own perceptions and feelings. Usually, manipulators start labeling you, using derogatory terms or casting doubt on your character, and may even dig into your past experiences to deflect attention from the main issues at hand. They know how to distract the world by gaslighting others, creating a smokescreen that obscures their own faults. This manipulation often stems from their own past failures, unsuccessful life choices, and inherent dishonesty, which fuel their need to control and distort reality for others. By projecting their insecurities onto you, they attempt to shift the blame and maintain power in the conversation. As you navigate this interaction, it becomes crucial to remain grounded in your own reality and recognize their tactics for what they are—strategies to evade accountability and manipulate the narrative. Understanding this dynamic can help you prepare for the emotional rollercoaster that often accompanies these confrontations, empowering you to stand firm in your truth even when they attempt to redirect the conversation.

In Quran, it says:

1. Surah Al-Imran (3:54):

"And [the disbelievers] planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners."

2. Surah An-Nisa (4:142):

"Indeed, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they rise to pray, they rise with laziness, showing themselves to the people and not remembering Allah except for a little."

3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:9):

"They deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not."

4. Surah Al-Hijr (15:72):

"And We are certainly able to replace them with better than them; and We will not be outdone."

5. Surah Al-Munafiqun (63:1):

"When the hypocrites come to you, they say, 'We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.' And Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger, and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars."

6. Surah Al-Imran (3:71):

"And when we replace a message with another message - and Allah knows best what He reveals - they say, 'You are just making it up.' Rather, most of them do not know."

7. Surah Al-Nisa (4:107-108):

"Why, when a disaster strikes you, even though you had struck them with one twice as great, do you say, 'How could this happen?' Say, 'It is from yourselves.' Indeed, Allah has power over all things

8. Surah Al-An'am (6:112-113):

"And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent."

9. Surah Al-Fussilat (41:29):

"But if they turn away, say, 'Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.' "
